Manning Wants Favre to Continue?
Peyton Manning is a great guy. He’s a good quarterback and a good humanitarian. The Indianapolis Colts quarterback is probably the quarterback that will have all of Brett Favre’s records in the end. But he still wants Favre to keep playing.
According to this article from JS Online, Manning has yet to send Favre a congratulations letter that he has sent to past players such as former New York Jets running back Curtis Martin, Tennessee Titans tight end Frank Wycheck, and Kansas City Chiefs guard Will Shields. Manning had this to say:
“Like everybody else, I guess we’ll see what happens this fall,” Manning told the newspaper. “In a lot of ways I kind of hope (he returns). Brett’s a guy that’s been such an influence on me and all young quarterbacks.
“I guess part of it is kind of hope, maybe, that he finds his way back in the NFL this year.”
Unfortunately for Manning, the I do not share this sentiment entirely. I think Favre is done and the Packers are Aaron Rodgers‘ team now. It would be great for Favre to have some connection to the team, but if he were to come back this year, it probably would not be that great of a situation. How do we know he has been working out this summer? If he came back, how dedicated would he be once he realizes that there are the certain things he does not like? In missing all of the OTAs and offseason activities he has not had the chance to bond with the younger players. All in all, the Packers seem to have moved on.

May 30th, 2008 at 7:45 amThis sounds a lot like Peyton Manning. A good guy and perfect with the media. As a Colts fan and resident of Indy, I know all of the good work he has done with the city. He is a geniune good person. I would like to see Favre continue to play just because it raises the level of the QB play in the league, which is fairly weak right now.
