McCarthy Speaks

Yesterday, head coach Mike McCarthy had a press conference and answered many questions.  Mostly about Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. That has been stated over and over again. I hope we can finally understand that. That’s where we are as an organization; that’s where we are as head coach of the Green Bay Packers.

That’s probably the most noteworthy quote from the conference.  You can read the rest here.  It’s just a bunch of reporters trying to get McCarthy to say something about Favre.

Nice going, Packer management.  So now we read Thompson is willing to have Farve back – as a backup – and McCarthy remains in total agreement.  Would these geniuses really plan to start the second best quarterback on the team?  For a team that went 13-3 last year and is widely thought to be one of the better NFC teams?  A team that returns most all the important players, if they would only give the NFL’s only 3 time MVP a shot at earning the starting position?

As someone who watched while Indiana University foolishly destroyed their football program by firing Bill Mallory, and then did themselves one better with their handling of the Bob Knight fiasco, let me assure you the ramifications of Green Bay’s handling of this disaster are going to get worse than and linger longer than many of you imagine.

Sympathy is already shifting back to Farve (thanks to Teddy T), and wait until Deanna F. speaks out (and she will)!  Nice work Ted!  The world now knows that your ego is such that you would put your first draft pick on the field ahead of a clearly superior player.  It looks like time for new management to me.
