Breaking News: Brett Switching Bays
It looks like Brett Favre is indeed about to be traded–from the Green Bay Packers to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s a compromise, because it would be better if he ended up in the AFC, but at least he’s not in the NFC North. On the other hand, the Bucs and Pack play in Tampa on September 28, so that game would be the biggest media circus since the O.J. trial should the trade go down. At least we’ll be able to move the focus back to Packers football until then. We’ll provide more details on compensation as they are released…

The Brett Favre saga is about to end with the NFL icon in pewter.
The Tribune has learned Favre will not stand in the way of a trade from Green Bay to Tampa Bay and the deal is likely to be finalized within 24 hours.
The chances of the trade unraveling are remote and Favre has indicated to the Bucs directly that he is willing to change teams after 16 years of growing his legend in Green Bay.
The Packers, unwilling to deal the 3-time league MVP to an NFC North rival, view the Bucs as a compromise in this ugly impasse. The Bucs view Favre as an upgrade on QB Jeff Garcia, who made the Pro Bowl in 2007 while leading Tampa Bay to an NFC South title.

August 6th, 2008 at 8:59 amFavre is just tarnishing his legacy at this point going from of the truly storied franchises in the NFL to what was up until just a few years ago a laughing stock. Favre is looking more and more like Joe Montana every day. OUCH!
