For the first time since 1991, the Green Bay Packers have shut out the opposing team on the road. This was not just any opposing team, but the high ranked, high powered NY Jets. The game was a defensive chess match and the Packers picked off each of the Jets attempts to drive.  We had several key players step up today, namely Kicker  Mason Crosby who kicked 3 field goals during the blustery game, giving the Packers the lead in the 1st quarter. The next two field goals came in the 4th Quarter, with the final 3pts added with just [...]
5 Q’s With A Jets Writer
So I am in balmy Cleveland for the week, hence the lack of material on the site, but have no fear as this is not permanent and I will be back to daily doses of Pack news on Wednesday. In the meantime, chew on these 5 questions that I asked Marc Greenberg of The Jet Press on this weeks game between the Gold and Green and the gang green.
Pack On Top
That loud thud you heard late last night was the sound of the door closing on Brett Favre’s career and the season for the Minnesota Vikings. Â With his first win against his former “mentor”, Aaron Rodgers made the Green Bay Packers relevant again in the division and in the conference. Â It took 3 interceptions by the Packers defense who recovered from the two picks Rodgers threw as well. Â At the end when the whistle blew, the Packers were back in the hunt and the Vikings were drifting further away from any shot at a season recovery. The Chicago Bears are [...]
I Have a Dream- Packers 28 Vikings 24
I have a dream. A dream that the Minnesota Vikings team comes to Lambeau Field and is dominated by the Green Bay Packers. I have a dream that the Minnesota QB Brett Favre is greeted with boo’s for his final showdown at the not-yet-frozen tundra. My dream includes several interceptions that includes a “pick six”. I have a dream that Aaron Rodgers has a great night. Â A night with few errors, great accuracy, excellent decision making and no sacks. I have a dream of few penalties and good officiating. I have a dream that the Packers are able to help [...]
The Student & The Master?
So much is made these days of Brett Favre being Aaron Rodgers‘ “dojo master”. Â Every time the two face off it’s brought up how Rodgers was drafted as the heir apparent and was set to take over the reigns of the team and Brett Favre called off his retirement to return shelving Rodgers for a year and then in 2008, Favre pulled it again and Rodgers was on the sideline. Â Then Favre pulled it again and the Packers traded the long time favorite to NY where his popularity waned over the years and became a league wide seasonal joke. Â So [...]
Should Favre Case Lead To Extortion?
The Minnesota Vikings are in town this weekend and it seems that wherever Brett Favre goes these days a circus follows. Â There will be assorted boos as he takes center stage tonight at Lambeau Field for the Vikings but regardless of whether Favre is a Viking or simply, now, an ex-Packer, one thing is for sure, his game play on the field is starting to become the side show to his issues off the field. Two weeks ago it was reported that there were cell phone pictures of Favre sent to NY Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger as well as [...]
The Showdown: Small Pop Vs. The Pack
National media seem to think this game is all about the return of Brett Favre and texting habits. Â That was so last year. Â This game is about the Green Bay Packers knocking spit out of the Minnie Soda (small pop) Vikings and their Kiwanis club QB. Â The texting allegations? Â That was a NY Jet thing. Â This is football and when it comes to the Packers and Vikings, the only thing that decides the game is on the field. Both teams come in struggling and it is no reach to say that both teams had aspirations of a Super Bowl appearance. [...]
NFL Crackdown On Hard Hits Comes With A Video
Ever wonder what goes on inside an NFL team facility? Â There are placards all around the players environ that stress proper tackling techniques and what is allowed and not allowed on the field of play. Â In the wake of last weeks heavily fined offenses for helmet to helmet and defenseless receiver contact the NFL is coming down even harder in the coming weeks and months. While some players criticize the action of the NFL the fact is this is nothing new. Â It’s been around for years. Â The NFL originally cited the issue of concussions by leading with your helmet and [...]

Packers: Coffee Mix Headlines
Jclombardi highlights Packers headlines. Clipped from: www.jsonline.com (share this clip) Williams Elevates Game: After surprising everyone to make the team in 2007, Williams moved his way up on special teams and then as the dime and nickel corner. Last season, he filled in for Harris, who was lost for the season with a knee injury. With Harris out for the first six weeks of this season, as well, Williams has been Green Bay’s best and most reliable cornerback – even if his exceptional play has been, once again, buried under the problems of another struggling 3-3 Packers team. With Harris returning this week [...]
