Round 1 goes to the Pack

That loud thud you heard late last night was the sound of the door closing on Brett Favre’s career and the season for the Minnesota Vikings. With his first win against his former “mentor”, Aaron Rodgers made the Green Bay Packers relevant again in the division and in the conference. It took 3 interceptions by the Packers defense who recovered from the two picks Rodgers threw as well. At the end when the whistle blew, the Packers were back in the hunt and the Vikings were drifting further away from any shot at a season recovery.

The Chicago Bears are now tied with the Pack at the top at 4-3 while the Vikes’ are now two games back and sliding. For Green Bay, it was a solid performance against a division rival. Surely it would have been nicer to see a more lopsided win, but this is divisional football and those games are always tough. After the Pack took the lead in the 3rd quarter the team simply got defensive and held their ground as the 4th quarter ended scoreless. … [visit site to read more]

I have a dream.

A dream that the Minnesota Vikings team comes to Lambeau Field and is dominated by the Green Bay Packers.

I have a dream that the Minnesota QB Brett Favre is greeted with boo’s for his final showdown at the not-yet-frozen tundra. My dream includes several interceptions that includes a “pick six”.

I have a dream that Aaron Rodgers has a great night. A night with few errors, great accuracy, excellent decision making and no sacks.

I have a dream of few penalties and good officiating. I have a dream that the Packers are able to help the Vikings continue their road game losing streak.

I believe in the Green Bay Packers. I believe in the players, I believe in the fans.

I have a dream that the Packers will once again lead the NFC North.

The game was, as always a nail-biter. My stress level was high, my blood pressure, even higher.

It was probably one of the best football games I’ve seen all year. But the best part, MY DREAM CAME TRUE!

The Packers beat Brett Favre and the Vikings in Lambeau. This was a critical game, the Packers NEEDED this win. Not just for their record, not just for the division, but also to get that monkey off of Rodgers’ back!

Rodgers ended the night with 21-34, 295 yds, 2 TDs, 2 INTs while Favre had 212 yds, 1 TD and 3 INT’s. … [visit site to read more]

Rodgers is 0-2 against Brett Favre as a Viking

So much is made these days of Brett Favre being Aaron Rodgers‘ “dojo master”. Every time the two face off it’s brought up how Rodgers was drafted as the heir apparent and was set to take over the reigns of the team and Brett Favre called off his retirement to return shelving Rodgers for a year and then in 2008, Favre pulled it again and Rodgers was on the sideline. Then Favre pulled it again and the Packers traded the long time favorite to NY where his popularity waned over the years and became a league wide seasonal joke. So with today’s return of Favre, I suppose the question should be, is Aaron Rodgers really the product of Master Brett?

Aaron Rodgers spent his first three seasons backing up and watching Brett Favre. I seemed to recall Favre taking the stance late in his Green Bay career that he wasn’t there (in Green Bay) to coach and that Rodgers would need to watch and learn. Following the trade of Brett in 2008, Rodgers quickly jumped in the starting role and won over the Green Bay fans almost immediately. … [visit site to read more]

Matthews needs to get into Brett Favres Head early and often

National media seem to think this game is all about the return of Brett Favre and texting habits. That was so last year. This game is about the Green Bay Packers knocking spit out of the Minnie Soda (small pop) Vikings and their Kiwanis club QB. The texting allegations? That was a NY Jet thing. This is football and when it comes to the Packers and Vikings, the only thing that decides the game is on the field.

Both teams come in struggling and it is no reach to say that both teams had aspirations of a Super Bowl appearance. Many believed these two teams would play each other for the right to rep the NFC. Oddly enough, the third team mentioned, the Dallas Cowboys, are having their own season meltdown. Oh, but I do digress. This week, it’s all about the pain.

The key to this game is simple, stop Adrian Peterson and force Brett Favre to throw. There was a time that you wouldn’t want to put Favre into that position, but despite the fact that Favre can still toss a few 6 pointers, especially with the addition of Randy Moss, he also has more fumbles than any QB in the history of the NFL and more INT’s. Put pressure on the passing game by eliminating the running game and the Packers secondary should have a far easier time rolling over the Nordic namesakes.
