First Time Lambeau Trek is Almost Indescribable

I’ve been a Green Bay Packers fan for many years, but living in Oklahoma most of my life, and now in South Texas, getting to Lambeau for a game took time.  After more than 16 years, that time was this past weekend.  Packers vs Cowboys in Green Bay, WI.

I’ve heard tales of the magnificence of Lambeau, stories about the glorious feelings of bliss just being in Green Bay, but nothing I imaged even came close to how I actually felt on November 7th, 2010.  It was a perfect weekend, filled with awe and amazement.  From the first moment when I entered the Green Bay city limits; as I drove north down Lombardi Ave. and looking to my left, seeing for the first time with my own eyes the Mecca of professional football.  The thousands of pictures I have seen, don’t do it justice, the hundreds of times I’ve seen it on TV doesn’t do it justice.  Lambeau Field is so majestic in person, I swear I heard angels singing as it came into my view!

The weather was perfect, a balmy 42 degrees Sunday night.  The Packers fans came in droves, there must have been at least 70,000 people who looked just like me – donning green and gold on every part of my body! I felt like I was finally “home”.

And the game…well, it really couldn’t have gone any better for us.  The offense, the defense, the Special Teams, all were SPECIAL!  It was a blowout and I spent the entire night cheering,  jumping, dancing, screaming, singing, clapping and high-fiving  everyone around me! Everything about that night was amazing and I know that I will be talking about this for the rest of my life!

Sunday Night game, Packers vs Cowboys 45-7 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI….. I can now die a happy Packer Fan!

my wife and I shared the same unique feeling during our first visit to a home game in 2005. we’ve been to a lot of places on vacation, but this trip was the best ever, bar none!! we went back in 2006 and finally we will go again when the 49ers come to town. the local folks are kind and gracious. it reminded us of home, especially since colledge and hall played for our hometown university. we plan on retiring in Green Bay! GO PACK!!
