Driver is Reason Enough to be a Packers Fan
By Kevin Gibson As a Packers fan for 35 years, I’ve seen everything from Super Bowl campaigns to scabs to the forgettable Randy Wright era (although I cheered for Wright as much as I ever did Brett Favre — maybe more). Still, few Packers have been easier to cheer for than wide receiver Donald Driver. When Favre vomited his dignity all over the field in overtime of the NFC Championship game after the 2007 season, I thought it was probably Driver’s last chance to make it to the Super Bowl. I’m glad I was wrong. Why? That’s easy: Because Driver [...]
Pro Bowl, Schmo Bowl – Packers Have Better Things To Do
It’s Pro Bowl Game Day and all I have to say is: Whoopie!.. no, seriously, big deal. Â I say that for two reasons, 1) The Packers are preparing for Super Bowl XLV and those who were or weren’t nominated have much better things to do with their time, and 2) I’ve been in Hawaii for Pro Bowl week and for the game.. let me tell you, it’s NOT a real game. My husband and I went to Hawaii in 2003, for the sole purpose to go to the Pro Bowl. Â We did a lot of the things first time tourists [...]
The biggest game of the year, being played in Dallas, at the most expensive, over the top stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and neither team playing, the Green Bay Packer nor the Pittsburgh Steelers, have cheerleaders!. The Packers and the Steelers are two of the six teams in the 32 team NFL that don’t have cheerleaders. I don’t think they will be missed, since we never had any in the first place.. I just found it an odd coincidence. Especially since the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are among the NFL elite in that category. Don’t worry Packer fans, we have [...]
Aaron Rodgers: Captain of the Photo Prank?
By Kevin Gibson Aaron Rodgers apparently has made it a hobby to “photobomb” Green Bay Packers team captain photos. AcmePackingCompany.com, which covers the Packers, posted this link that shows a collage of team captain photos in which Rodgers appears in the background. In some of the photos, he appears to be there accidentally, either with his back turned or appearing to be at work with headphones on. But in some — particularly the one pictured here in which he has gauze stuffed into his nostrils — he is clearly mugging for the camera as a joke. Based on this, it’s [...]
Another Close Game Could Make Packers History
By Kevin Gibson Obviously, a win next Sunday in Dallas would give the Green Bay Packers a fourth Super Bowl title since competition between the NFL and AFL begat the season-ending championship game, but another kind of history is also in the offing if the Packers play their best game. We all know that the Packers, in six losses this season, have not lost by more than four, and that two of the losses were by three points in overtime. That in itself is an amazing feat, but here’s another amazing statistic that should keep your eyes fixed on the [...]
Superbowl XLV Go Pack by Engineers in Your Ear
McArthur Towel & Sports in Baraboo, WI. Â has unveiled the design of the new Green Bay Packers Titletown Towel in commemoration of Super Bowl XLV. Featuring the Super Bowl date, location and Titletown slogan, the rally towel is expected to rival the Steelers “Terrible Towel”. Â This isn’t the first time the Packers have sold rally towels to the fans. Â The towel was originally launched for Super Bowl XXXI, in 1997. Packers Pro Shop, Shopko as well as other retailers should begin carrying the towels this week. There are sure to be several thousand towels flying in the Dallas stadium… I [...]
Suave Grants Matthews His Hairy Wish
By Kevin Gibson Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews got his wish: He’s signed a one-year endorsement deal with Suave hair products. After half-jokingly lobbying for a deal like the one Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers — the team Green Bay will face in next Sunday’s Super Bowl in Dallas — has with Head and Shoulders, Matthews now becomes the second player in the game to add to his legacy because of his ‘do. “I’ve been throwing it out there and just getting shunned,” Matthews told the media on Monday. “I don’t know what it is … America, I’m [...]
Green Bay Packers Have A Change Of Heart
The Green Bay Packers organization has decided to include ALL of the men on the 2010 roster in the Super Bowl photo. The Green Bay Press Gazette reported this afternoon that the photo will take place this Friday, in Green Bay. This makes much more sense then taking it next Tuesday when only part of team would be available. Â Yeah TEAM, Go Pack Go!! Clipped from: packersnews.greenbaypressgazette.com (share this clip)
