It’s Pro Bowl Game Day and all I have to say is: Whoopie!.. no, seriously, big deal. I say that for two reasons, 1) The Packers are preparing for Super Bowl XLV and those who were or weren’t nominated have much better things to do with their time, and 2) I’ve been in Hawaii for Pro Bowl week and for the game.. let me tell you, it’s NOT a real game.

My husband and I went to Hawaii in 2003, for the sole purpose to go to the Pro Bowl. We did a lot of the things first time tourists do, went to the Cultural Center, went to a Luau, did a whale watch cruise, and saw Pearl Harbor. We had a great time.

This was back in the day, when the Pro Bowl was played after the Super Bowl, so the entire winning team was there and boy were they in a good mood! Some of the other players paid the way for the guys who helped them be successful. Like Buffalo Bills Ruben Brown, who brought the rest of the defense with him.

We also were lucky enough to stay in the same hotel as the NFL players. We saw them in the elevator, on the veranda, at the beach, at the restaurants, where ever you were, you could see a player. … [visit site to read more]

Obviously, a win next Sunday in Dallas would give the Green Bay Packers a fourth Super Bowl title since competition between the NFL and AFL begat the season-ending championship game, but another kind of history is also in the offing if the Packers play their best game.

We all know that the Packers, in six losses this season, have not lost by more than four, and that two of the losses were by three points in overtime. That in itself is an amazing feat, but here’s another amazing statistic that should keep your eyes fixed on the scoreboard: The Packers have not trailed by more than seven points at any point during this season.

Pay attention to the scoreboard during the Super Bowl, Packers fans.

That’s correct: 19 games, and no deficit greater than a touchdown and an extra point. ESPN’s Kevin Seifert reports that this feat hasn’t been accomplished since the Lions did it in 1962 (in only 14 games), and it has happened only five times since 1938. … [visit site to read more]

Let me start by stating a little about myself. I live in Australia, I am 27 years old and I have been a die hard packers fan for ten years now. I first saw the Packers play when I was 13 in Super Bowl 31, it was the first game of American Football I ever watched.

The Packers were Green and Gold (Australian colours) so naturally I started cheering for them. I had no idea what was going on, but I knew I loved it! From then on I was a Packers “fan”. Every year I watched the Super Bowl as it was the only game we got in Australia, but apart from Super Bowl 32 I never saw the Packers play again.

Once I graduated from school I started following the Packers scores on the Internet, then I started downloading games and now between digital TV and NFL Gamepass I am able to watch every Packers game. For the past five or so years I have watched every Packers snap… usually getting up at 4am for the privilege. I have struggled through losing seasons, sat in confusion and dismay at moments like “4th and 26”, watched Favre throw away an NFC title, watch in dismay as my favourite Packer publicly fought with the organisation I love so much – then go out of his way to try and beat us and I have held my breath as the offense put up nearly half a century of points, only to lose… in the playoffs!

But this morning I did something I have never done, I cried during a Packers game… and not for a reason I ever thought I would. … [visit site to read more]

Twenty-one NFL Championships. Forty-eight members in the pro football hall of fame. One hundred eighty regular season meetings and one post season meeting. This Sunday will mark meeting number one eighty-two.

This historic rivalry between the Packers and the Bears dates back to November 27, 1921, a 20-0 Bears win. The last meeting between these two teams resulted in a 10-3 Packers win and catapulted Green Bay in to the playoffs. Every game in-between has been just as entertaining, with the longest winning streak between the two head-to-head at ten games, owned by the Packers from ’94-’98.

When these two teams button their chin straps, it no longer becomes just a football game to the players involved–but much more. For instance, the last meeting between the two, a 10-3 Packers win, meant nothing to the Bears, allegedly. They had the number two seed and a first round bye wrapped up before the game even started. This usually gives a coach an opportunity to rest some of his core players and reduces risk of injury to his stars. Wait a minute, this is Packers vs Bears. … [visit site to read more]
