The Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl XLV over 70 days ago. The Super Bowl “high” we felt has continued on and doesn’t appear to be dying down anytime soon.
There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming draft.. speculation of who Ted’s first round pick will be (psst… OL, please), and a whole lot of previously disgruntled Packers fans’ admission of the true genius that we have now come to love. It’s amazing what a Super Bowl win will do to send a singular person’s stock to rise sky high.
As we continue to have hopes for an agreement between the NFL owners and Players Association, waiting for news, shaking our heads in disbelief that they have STILL not been able to come to terms.. I’m starting to feel a little disgruntled myself. Not with the team and not with the fans.. but there are a few outstanding celebrations that have been put on hold for months now.
When are we going to see our team make the dutiful trip to Washington DC to meet with the President? When are we going to get to see the diamond encrusted, gaudy, but rightfully earned Super Bowl ring.. and where is the Twitter-controversy-fed Super Bowl Team photo?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still in celebration mode, but these events are something that every other winning team has got to experience. I know it will happen sooner or later, but to me, it’s like when you have your birthday on a weekday and everyone waits to celebrate it on the weekend…there’s just not the enthusiasm there is when you celebrate the day of.
The end of the CBA will be the reinstatement of Packers fan’s continuation of our celebration that was marred by the lack of willingness for both sides to come to an agreement in a timely manner. So, to the NFL owners and the NFLPA, let’s get this wrapped up, it’s gone on far too long and Packer Nation has a lot more celebrating left to do!
