Kuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhnnnnnnn back in the Packers huddle
So the Eagles landed Asomugha … Well, we’ve got Kuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhnnnnnn! Let’s see the Eagles fans come up with something that even closely resembles the Packers love-call they associated with Kuhn last year. The newly-inked Packer brings his versatility back to the team that he helped resurrect from near oblivion last year when he moved up from his fullback position to play running back after Brandon Jackson failed miserably in the same role. According to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Kuhn will be around for awhile because he signed a three-year deal to stay in Green Bay. The deal, [...]
Headed to the Packers facility at 7 p.m. for day two of training camp? Well, here’s some things you will find: Day two of practices will again see tight end Jermichael Finley, safety Morgan Burnett and defensive lineman Mike Neal in limited participation, as they continue their rehabs. Rookie defensive lineman Eli Joseph (hamstring), tight end Andrew Quarless (hip flexor) and linebacker Diyral Briggs (hamstring) have yet to pass their physicals. In addition, Mason Crosby, Spencer Havner and Brett Swain will be watching from the sidelines because they can’t practice until Aug. 4 … CBA rules.
Barnett headed to Buffalo
Cripes, things are moving so fast in the NFL these days that the minute you write something about someone, it changes. It’s almost like buying a PC and going back to the store 15 minutes later to find a newer “better” version of what you just bought. Well, such is the case with Nick Barnett. I wrote 30 minutes ago the Buffalo Bills MAY be interested in his services. Not just a few minutes after posting that blog … it seems it was confirmed.
James Jones signs three-year deal with Packers
It’s not surprising the news came just a few minutes ago via Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel … The Packers have agreed to terms with wide receive James Jones. Terms of the deal are not yet available. And it seems that Jones had some heavy hitters go to bat for him. We all know that Aaron Rodgers went public last week, saying that James Jones should be priority number one, but what we didn’t know was that Packers veteran receiver Donald Driver also put in a significant plug for Jones. Did it influence Packers management to pick up [...]
Packers training camp notes …
As the Packers start training camp, there have been a few interesting tidbits that have emerged so far. Some of those tidbits were brought out by reporters tweeting from the practice field last night.
Where are you, James Jones?
Ranked by Pro Football Weekly at number 46 of the top 100 free agents on the market, James Jones has fallen off the face of the market. Thought to have been chased by the Vikings this week, Jones is nowhere to be found … in any discussions of free agents. Packers fans know what he’s capable of doing. He can stretch a defense at any time and run by cornerbacks and safeties with ease … but he can also drop the easiest looking passes at any time. We’ve all seen him do that, too.
Training camp tweets
The Green Bay Packers opened training camp tonight and all the beat writers were working overtime … that is with their thumbs … the tweets were flying hot and heavy from all of them … thanks folks … almost as good as being there. With that in mind, let me give you a taste of what’s been tweeted by these fine folks … their work is after the jump … Enjoy …
Jenkins is an Eagle
It’s just been reported Cullen Jenkins signed with the Philadelphia Eagles … The terms of the deal as reported by Adam Shefter of ESPN are five years at $25 million … given Jenkins’ injury history, if he makes it through training camp without being dinged up, Andy Reid will probably do one of his jigs … Really? Where are the Eagles going to put all of these free agents? Is the room big enough? Is Andy Reid really that disgusted with the current makeup of his team that he had to go out and pick up all of these players? [...]
‘Locker room talk’ from Press Gazette …
Clipped from: blogs.greenbaypressgazette.com (share this clip) This is really good stuff from Kareem Copeland of the Green Bay Press Gazette … He gets timely information from Ryan Grant, Mike Neal, Charlie Peprah and Brett Swain. Check it out …
Vince Young: Excuse me while I go throw up …
Vince Young has really gotten off to a great start in Philly. Not only has he given every team in the league bulletin board material with his declaration that the Eagles are this season’s version of the “Dream Team,” but he has probably alienated any educated Eagles fan who understands this was one of the stupidest comments to come out of a player’s mouth since the lockout ended and the free agency frenzy ensued. The acquisition of Nnamdi Asomugha, Young, and Jason Babin were good moves by the Eagles, but to spout off in public about being the Dream Team [...]
