Henderson, Brown, Murphy pitch in to promote Wisconsin

Though not a football story, William Henderson is using the notoriety he gained through his days as a Green Bay Packers fullback by making news these days and getting on the blogging venture train – all while promoting the state of Wisconsin.

He is teaming up with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism by sharing his favorite Wisconsin vacation memories on TravelWisconsin.com blog … a guest bloggers’ series where the department has invited state celebrities to provide their own memories and photographs from the vacations they have taken throughout the state.

In his blog, Henderson gets away from Green Bay and talks about a memorable boat ride he has taken along the Mississippi River for the Gilbert Brown Foundation, a charity he supports.

Of course, everyone also remembers Brown, the “grave digger,” of championship teams in the mid- to late-1990s.

But given the fact that Henderson is a former Green Bay Packer, he also writes about the excitement he is feeling in anticipation of being inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame to be held July 22.

In addition to Henderson, Brown has already blogged on the website about Summerfest and the Warrens Cranberry Festival.

Mark Murphy, president and CEO of the Green Bay Packers, is also tabbed to be writing a blog sometime in the near future.

Needless to say, winning Super Bowls have made these men much sought after for promotional efforts within the state, something that Wisconsin sorely needs given the negative press the state has gotten both nationally and internationally over the past several months.

It’s nice to see them obliging and bringing a much-needed positive light about all the good things in this state.

It’s also a nice reprieve from the negative light the game of football is currently under … it’s also an indication that with very little football news out there because of the lockout, this is one way that residents and visitors to the state can enjoy the good things around them … including the Green Bay Packers.
