This morning, Gregg Rosenthal of Pro Football Talk posted a blog naming the 16 defensive players who should be cut, including four Green Bay Packers: Nick Barnett, Justin Harrell, Johnny Jolly and Brandon Chillar.
The good news is this: Rosenthal came out this afternoon with a new blog – the top 24 offensive players who should be cut … and you know what? Not a single Packer made the list.
That’s a good thing considering the team’s overall success last season.
Though there are three offensive players and a kicker who are scheduled to hit the free agent market once the league and players agree on a CBA, it’s nice to know that Rosenthal doesn’t mention them.
Brandon Jackson, James Jones and Daryn Colledge, as well as placekicker Mason Crosby are all set to either to be re-signed by the Packers or told they can test the market, which probably won’t affect the team that highly.
But getting back to Rosenthal’s list, here are some surprises:
Well, actually there are none.
Many of the usual suspects are on the list – Donovan McNabb, Chad Ochocinco, Vince Young, Kyle Orton, Brandon Jacobs, Reggie Bush, Bernard Berrian, Marion Barber, and Derek Anderson.
Most likely these players will end up on someone’s roster or out of football altogether.
So, Packers fans, take note that in this season of never-ending lists, at least the team’s offense is solid enough at this point not to be included on this specific list.
