Colledge headed to Arizona

The news out of the Daryn Colledge camp is not surprising.

Colledge is now headed to the Arizona Cardinals highest one list top choice among a number of suiters who showed an interest. Other teams he had considered are the Redskins, Buccaneers and Rams.

The Packers didn’t express a whole lot of interest in pursuing Colledge, mainly because of the team’s depth in quality linemen already on the team.

Bryan Bulaga, the Packers first round pick a year ago, worked some at left guard during training camp last season but his exemplary play at right tackle last year may convince coaches he should stay at that spot.
Derek Sherrod, played left tackle in college but if he does well in training camp could be moved inside.

Agent Jeff Sperbeck said in an e-mail to Packer Report, “In this business, money is a significant indicator of how teams express their appreciation. So based on that, then yes, many other teams do seem to appreciate his talent more than the Packers do. He enjoyed his time in Green Bay and was proud to have been a part of their rich history. He won a Super Bowl championship there, and for that, he will always be proud.”
Colledge has been a consistent and solid lineman, but the Packers’ brass is ready to move on in a different direction … Simply put, the Packers have enough linemen on board to cover Colledge’s loss.

The Packers won’t pay Colledge’s price … The team will move on … And rightly so.
