Alex Green, the Packers third round draft pick, has signed a contract and though he missed the physicals held yesterday, he was tested today and passed … he is expected to be on the practice field tonight.
Green was the final draft pick to sign.
Green is being looked to for depth in the Packers backfield. With Brandon Jackson signing with Cleveland this week, that move opens the door to utilize Green more, though being a rookie, no doubt he’s got lots of catching up to do. Like all rookies in the league, they are at a huge disadvantage because of lost training and classroom time during the lockout.
At six-foot, 225 pounds, Green is described as “explosive.” In 2010, he rushed for 1,199 yards, an 8.2 yard average (number one in NCAA), and also hit paydirt 18 times. He ran a 4.45 40-yard dash time at the combine. Though he visited the Eagles, Rams, Titans, Lions, Falcons and Saints prior to the draft, they all passed on him.
