Jenkins is an Eagle

It’s just been reported Cullen Jenkins signed with the Philadelphia Eagles …

The terms of the deal as reported by Adam Shefter of ESPN are five years at $25 million … given Jenkins’ injury history, if he makes it through training camp without being dinged up, Andy Reid will probably do one of his jigs …

Really? Where are the Eagles going to put all of these free agents? Is the room big enough? Is Andy Reid really that disgusted with the current makeup of his team that he had to go out and pick up all of these players? Wasn’t this the team that made it to the second round of the playoffs last year and could have gone all the way?

Does the team need such a complete makeover?

Wow.

Here’s a comment that was posted by a reader of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel … pretty much says it all:

“Did Daniel Snyder take over the Eagles???? I think they have signed every free agent in the NFL!!! Funny thing is, everyone knows the key to the Eagles is to hit MV (Michael Vick) hard and often…he won’t last the season, then it won’t matter how my UFA’s the Eagles sign …”

Even with Asomugha, the Eagles’ defense is suspect … and all the new additions who will have to crash the classroom to get up to speed on the new system may slow the team’s progress … I’m just not sold on free agency. Like the comment above indicates … it’s been tried before and has proven to be a monumental failure.

I like the former Packers coach Andy Reid. He’s an excellent coach … he’s proven that … he’s an excellent manager of people … he’s proven that …

But I’m afraid the “Dream Team” will have its own internal issues this year that stem right from big names and big salaries.
