In a move that might come as somewhat of a surprise to Packers fans given the seemingly thin corps of linebackers, the team announced today that they have released Diyral Briggs.
In a press release from the Packers PR department this afternoon, the team said that Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson (yes, that’s his official title) made the announcement.
Briggs (first name pronounced DIE-rell), wasn’t the biggest contributor for the Packers last season.
He appeared in five regular-season contests and all four playoff games for the Packers in 2010 and registered eight tackles on special teams during the regular season. He was claimed off waivers by Green Bay from Denver on Oct. 26, 2010.
