Bob McGinn, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s lead Packers beat writer, is reporting that Ryan Grant has agreed to a contract restructuring that will cut $1 million from his previous contract of $3.5 million in exchange for guaranteed money.
That means if the Packers decide to cut him at the end of training camp, they would have to eat the $2.5 million – which basically means the running back helped secure a roster spot with the deal.
This story is fresh off the story the Journal Sentinel did yesterday about the pickle the Packers find themselves in with the decision on whom to keep and which players to release. This most likely means that Grant will remain with the team, but also means that the team will have to decide who else to keep at the position.
Clearly, I wouldn’t envy the Packers …
