The Packers don’t need this. This is a team that emphasizes the “team” concept more than any other.
That’s why Jermichael Finley’s comments this week were so disconcerting. In fact, it’s time for him to simply shut it down and get in line.
Being double teamed by the Broncos left the opportunities for other receivers and Finley has to understand that Aaron Rodgers isn’t going to force the ball to him if he’s not open.
Here’s what Finley had to say: “Double-teams. That’s something that we have to go back and look at and create ways to get (me) the ball, somehow.”
“We’ll have to go back, not being selfish or nothing, but go back and dial up something so you can get your playmaker the ball in games like that when it’s close.”
Excuse me, but the Packers have plenty of playmakers, including Finley. However, if he’s double teamed, Rodgers will go elsewhere.
That’s a fact of life and Finley needs to get that.
If he doesn’t, there are four other tight ends on the roster who would love the shot to be on the field … Double teams or not.
