Mike McCarthy rips into questions about receivers

Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy got about as animated as he can possibly get today when he was asked about the receivers on the team, the number of times they touch the ball and the drop-off in Donald Driver’s production.

McCarthy lit into the reporters, raising his voice and downplaying the concern about the numbers of touches by players – calling it “garbage.”

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel blogged about McCarthy’s outburst, but concludes the coach is justified in his rant … we agree. It seems there’s only a story there if sports journalists go after it.

Even Donald Driver is downplaying it, saying he isn’t concerned about his production. He’s not blind … certainly he can see the talent around him and like he says, if it all ends with a win, that’s all anybody should be concerned about.
