Packers Sign Free Agent Hannibal Navies
March 19, 2003 - The Packers sign unrestricted free agent Hannibal Navies to a three-year, $3.08 million contract. Navies, who spent his first four seasons playing outside linebacker with the Carolina Panthers, is projected to play in the middle for Green Bay. “It will take some learning,” Navies says of the expected switch. “I played outside my whole career and I think that’s my natural position. My main issue will be studying a lot of film and understanding what the reads are.” In the end, Navies starts all 16 games at strong-side linebacker for the Packers in 2003.
