Michael Zweifel, the NCAA’s all-time receptions leader, a wide receiver who started his collegiate career at UW-River Falls (my alma mater) and finished at Dubuque, has been been given a tryout with the Green Bay Packers.
“I’m just excited to get a chance to play and show what I can do,” Zweifel was quoted as saying Sunday in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be there. I know the speed of the game will be faster. But I’m just really excited.”
Zweifel is one of many rookies who have been invited to the team’s rookie camp to compete for a possible spot on the roster.
At the Iowa State pro day, Zweifel ran a 4.56 second 40-yard dash, had a 35-inch vertical jump and a 6.52 second three-cone drill.
Zweifel caught 463 passes during his Division III collegiate career and had 140 receptions for 25 touchdowns and 1,915 yards last season.
