Donald Driver sheds tears; fans appreciative

Donald Driver – you know the guy – the Green Bay Packers‘ all-time leading receiver who caught more than 700 passes for more than 10,000 yards, is probably the most well-loved of all players who’s ever donned the Green and Gold.

After a tumultuous fourteenth season that saw his role diminished to near nothing, Driver and the Packers have decisions to make. No doubt the Packers decision will be swift and calculated – they will cut ties with the 14-year veteran who has said he wants to play until he’s 40 and maybe beyond. Sheer numbers and younger talent ahead of him have made it an impossibility for him to ever play for the Packers again, so the decision on his future comes down to a personal one by Driver.

Will he want to hang them up at this time, relishing in a storied career in Green Bay or will he want to explore the possibilities with another team? Either way, it’s highly unlikely that Driver will ever be viewed as a “traitor” as was Brett Favre who retired and came back a couple of times, ending his career in Minnesota.

It’s a difficult decision for Driver, as he’s admitted.

Maybe you’ve seen this video from his television program “Inside the Huddle,” maybe you haven’t. It’s worth a look.
