After years of being the heart and soul of the Green Bay Packers defense, it appears Charles Woodson is seeing his days in Wisconsin coming to an end.
At least that’s what’s indicated from a tweet he put out in cyberspace via his vineyard, Twenty Four Wines today. NFL.com’s Ian Rappaport confirmed in a tweet of his own that Woodson’s agent, Carl Poston tweeted that “They’re getting ready to release him. It’s part of the business.”
The release is not a huge surprise in that Woodson is scheduled to make $10 million this season and is coming off a broken collarbone that kept him off the field for nearly half of the 2012 season. He broke the same collarbone in Super Bowl XLV, but came back to play two more seasons with the Packers.
