As if there’s nothing else to report about these days – like the fact that the Bears need to revamp its entire offensive line, replace a bunch of old defensive players and find a tight end who can hang onto the ball, the Chicago Bears official website today posted a reminiscent story about the 61-7 thrashing that the Bears and Walter Payton put on the Packers in 1980.
I know, us Packers fans like to bring up the 1989 “Instant Replay” game and Chester Marcol’s miracle touchdown off a blocked field goal (the first meeting between the two teams in 1980), and we also like to rub in the fact that the Packers have handed it to Chicago the past two decades, but that’s beside the point.
It’s the offseason, it’s an exciting time of year what with free agency and the draft on the horizon. There’s plenty to talk about, plenty to write about …
So, we’ll agree to call a truce – at least until the preseason starts … but I doubt anyone over at chicagobears.com is listening … so to heck with it.
What do you say Packers fans … do we discard the gloves and have at it? After all, that Chicago Bears Fan Facebook page took on our cheerleaders last month …
Ok, we’re better than that. We’ll stick to writing about the things that really matter – like how the Packers will clean up in the draft with the players they need to keep putting the hurt on the Bears in the future.
We’ll let chicagobears.com write about the past.
