The Green Bay Packers selected Illinois State Red Birds inside linebacker Nate Palmer with the 193rd pick of the sixth round – their only choice in the second to last round of the day.
We don’t know much about Palmer – even NFL.com doesn’t have a profile on the guy – but we all know that Ted Thompson sometimes finds guys nobody knows anything about – we know how he excels at finding football players on the back end of the draft and our only hope is that he’s done so here.
What we do know about Palmer is that he isn’t the fastest guy in the book – his 40-yard dash time was anywhere between 4.7 and 4.8, which is glacially slow given his 6-3, 240-pound package.
However, he did have some good numbers during his time at Illinois State. The Chicago native had 9.5 sacks, 46 tackles, 10.5 tackles for losses and two forced fumbles last season.
