Green Bay Packers rookies hit the practice field today

It’s all about the rookies for the Green Bay Packers this weekend as they hit the practice field for the first time as part of their orientation.

That means the likes of Datone Jones, Eddie Lacy, Johnathan Franklin, David Bakhtiari and all the others drafted and undrafted will be occupying the coaches time and efforts as they learn the Green Bay Packers Way.

Today, the rookies hit the field at 4 p.m. CDT, after they get physicals and classroom sessions out of the way. Sometime after the practice – according to – head coach Mike McCarthy will be holding a live press conference that is to be broadcast on the website … exact time of that conference has not yet been announced, but stay tuned or head back there about 6-ish tonight to check in.

Though this session is not open to the public, the Packers will be holding three upcoming spring workout sessions that will be open to the public and will be held outside on the Clark Hinkle Field in the shadows of the Don Hutson Center.

The dates for those public sessions will be May 21, May 28, and June 4, 5, and 11.

If weather forces the team to move inside for those workouts, the public won’t be allowed to follow. Pray for sunshine.
