Eddie Lacy now a running back under contract for the Green Bay Packers

Datone Jones is all alone at this point because his teammate running back Eddie Lacy has signed his four-year rookie contract with the Green Bay Packers.

That leaves Jones, the Packers first round selection, as the only Packer waiting to sign on the bottom line.

With Lacy now in the fold, the Packers have their offensive backfield set as the Packers now have Lacy, fellow rookie Johnathan Franklin, James Starks, DuJuan Harris and Alex Green all set to start officially competing for the starting role with a Packers offense that is going through some major changes, but is still expected to be an explosive unit.

Lacy, the Packers second round selection last month, brings a power running attack to the field – something the team hasn’t see in years. He has extreme lower leg strength and balance that makes him difficult to bring down on the first hit. Is that something the Packers need considering they have the best quarterback in the league under center?

Well, if you’re interested in balance, yes, Lacy brings an element to the team that should help them in the long run and especially late in games and late in the season.

Though the Packers have as yet not officially announced Lacy’s signing, expect the word to come down from on top sometime tomorrow morning.

The Rob Demovsky tweeted the news earlier tonight, saying ESPN was the first to make the announcement.

we did good with lacy. he will be a beast out there and really hard to take down. i think rodgers will get comfy to him like he did with benson. i can see a lot of passes to lacy out of the back field . not to mention the yards he will get due to other teams not flooding the box

True. Plus we’ll have someone for 3rd & short. Looking forward to ending our 42 or 43 games w/o a 100 yrd rusher
