Hey Packers fans, what's the true cost of fandom?

The annual Packers Pro Shop tent sale was held this past weekend and let me tell you from a first-hand perspective, few from Packers fandom were cheated at this one.

The sale began at 8 a.m. I showed up around 9 and there was barely anything left! This got me thinking … what exactly does it cost to be a fan?

It’s probably one of the ultimate paradoxes any sports fan faces nowadays. Tickets aren’t getting any cheaper and any merchandise donning your favorite teams logo is sure to come at a premium cost.

Yet for as much as we fans (yes I’m just as guilty as the next guy) complain about cost, we’re still the first ones to purchase knowing if we don’t, the next guy certainly will.

We are literally victims of our own doing! Caught up in a game, what’s $25 bucks for a shirt or $9 bucks for a beer?

When it comes down to it, it really doesn’t matter how much these things cost, we’re going to pay it. The same could almost be said for the price of a gallon of gas.

Now I will admit a few fans out there have probably boycotted attending live events due to these outrageous costs, but for the most part, I think it’s safe to assume the vast majority will still pay for seats and food along with a few libations. For the most part, however, in their defense, prices at Lambeau for food and beverage are supposedly quite average given the big picture scale across 32 nationwide venues.

One thing I definately wanted to touch on are the prices of seats and jerseys.

There are some fans who don’t pay much to get outfitted for the game.

Let’s start with jerseys. Nike is NOT inexpensive! I, for one, am very particular when it comes to my jerseys and, my god, an authentic jersey is upwards of 250 bucks! There are obviously cheaper alternatives, but are they really that much less?

Seating costs have risen, and risen, and … well, you get the point. The last how many years, the cost to attend ANY game for that matter (regardless of where you are seated) has risen. The league is certainly all about trends, whether it be the Wildcat on the field, or the cost of seats and apparel. And this is certainly one trend that won’t be going away any time soon.

What say you Packers Nation? What’s the most you would spend on seats or for food at a game?

We want to hear from the frontlines!
