Victor Cruz with his new six-year, $46 million contract, has been considered one of the most dynamic of all wide receivers in the National Football League, but today’s announcement of profootballtalk.com’s next batch of top 100 players tabs Cruz as #75.
The Giants and the fans of that NFL franchise would obviously argue yes.
But what do we Packers fans care about Cruz anyway?
Well, for one thing, he may be setting the salary standard for Randall Cobb who is entering his third NFL season and may be looking for a contract extension at some point soon. After all, Packers GM Ted Thompson likes to reward his most productive, best valued players with extensions before they start sniffing free agency.
Cruz’s contract doesn’t include bank-busting
But as for this most recent top 100 list, Cruz brings up the rear of this most recent installment, coming in at # 75, while the Broncos’ Demaryius Thomas tops the 51-75 grouping.
Again, no Green Bay Packers players are in the bottom 50, meaning that the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews and hopefully Cobb will fall somewhere probably in the top 25. But given that these lists are made for argument and comparison, it’s difficult to predict where any of them will show up.
Like we did with a few of the bottom 25 of this list, we will compare a few of those listed today to where they relate to the NFL Network’s top 100 list:
51 Demaryius Thomas – rated #68 on NFL Network
55 Cam Newton – rated #46 on NFL Network
59 Roddy White – rated #39 on NFL Network
64 Mike Iupati – not rated on NFL Network
67 Tony Gonzalez – rated #47 on NFL Network
71 LeSean McCoy – rated #45 on NFL Network
75 Victor Cruz – rated #58 on NFL Network
