Packers Bulaga injury confirmed; Packers ‘play’ today

While Bob McGinn and Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel are saying that they have received confirmation from sources that left tackle Bryan Bulaga’s injury is indeed a torn ACL, the Packers aren’t commenting yet.

Here’s what Dunne tweeted a few minutes ago:

The Packers have cancelled practice for today, but before all the conspiracy theorists can warm up their pens it’s time to rethink things. The Packers are not going into panic mode and thinking about canceling the season. Not at all.

Instead, Mike McCarthy thought it time to bring the troops together in non-football activities that are being described as an opportunity toward “team building.”

Considering the news of the past 12 hours, and the fact that the team has just come off a difficult stretch of practices, I would say that McCarthy’s timing is spot on. Instead of bone-crushing hits against one another, the team might go bowling, shoot some paintballs or some skeet, or play some dodgeball as they have in the past. Nobody’s sure of what activity will be enjoyed, but it probably won’t be announced until tonight or tomorrow.

Either way, it seems that despite the tough news this is what this team needs right now. A day away from the pounding might do wonders … as well as give the Packers time to work out Vince Young and to work on a strategy for moving on.
