Aaron Rodgers: Look for his smiling face on SI next week

Maybe you’ve seen the toothy grin of Aaron Rodgers that is scheduled to be plastered across newsstands next week as Sports Illustrated releases its “Fantasy meets Reality” issue. With folks in the Midwest region set to go gaga over the picture of Rodgers, other NFL Fans will see Peyton Manning and the Broncos, as well.

In addition to previews of the top 32 players at each offensive position, the issue will also focus on Rodgers, with a headline the reads “Why A-Rod (no, not that one!) is still the king of Wisconsin.”

The closeup photograph of Rodgers spinning a football and looking happy as a lark, was probably taken prior to this week when the news of two of the Packers more important cogs in their offense’s machine – Jordy Nelson and Bryan Bulaga – were injured. Concern in Packers Nation was the mode of operation this week as the team preps for its first preseason game on Friday.

But there is still hope. The Packers have plenty of depth at wide receiver and the team will once again reshuffle its line to fill the hole left by Bulaga’s knee injury. In fact, the Packers have such confidence in a rookie by the name of David Bakhtiari, that they plan to give him every opportunity to win the job.

So maybe by the time the Packers finish out their preseason Rodgers will have this smile back on his face as the Packers hit the regular season in full stride.

Stay tuned.
