Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers – so much hype, so many questions – and it all comes to a head this afternoon when the Packers invade Candlestick Park just after 3 p.m.

Welcome to our comment thread. Scroll on down and type your comments into the comment field and they will appear live on the page. Would love to hear from you!

For the Packers, we’ll be watching many players as the game unfolds. Will Jordy Nelson be 100 percent? Will Micah Hyde fill in adequately in place of Casey Hayward? Will David Bakhtiari do the job on Aaron Rodgers‘ blind side? Will Eddie Lacy give the Packers the needed punch at running back to give them a truly balanced offensive attack? Will the Packers defense do enough to contain the Niners’ run game?  Most particularly, we want to see them contain quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

And with those questions up in the air we invite you to scroll on down and join us in conversation about every play and every minute of this 2013 season opener for the Green Bay Packers – the 93rd season opener in the franchise’s history.

I was just going to say that.

How about a mistake here by Kaepernick, he’s due

    • RayRivard

I would like that. And yes he’s due.

  • RayRivard

Jarrett Bush is getting murdered today. Good to see him sticking it to them

  • RayRivard

    Too much time for Kaepernick

  • Dan Turczynski

    Way too much time

  • Dan Turczynski

Big play here, third and long

  • RayRivard

    Gotta hold here …

  • Dan Turczynski

Huge play by Shields, he beat him bad, great recovery

  • RayRivard

    Boy Shields got beat badly.

  • Dan Turczynski

Give the man a contract. Only Packers’ CB that can get away with that. That cannot be taught, Shields deserves to be locked up.

  • RayRivard

Only a rookie would leap like that

  • RayRivard

    Gorgeous catch by Jordy

  • Dan Turczynski

    Unreal

    • RayRivard

      This is great stuff

  • RayRivard

The reason the Packers drafted Eddie Lacy was to carry the rock in the 4th … and to score touchdowns

  • RayRivard

    Boldin answers. Damnit

  • RayRivard

    OK, Aaron Rodgers time

  • Dan Turczynski

    Too easy again.

  • RayRivard

That could be the game right there unless the defense can hold

  • RayRivard

    That first pass surprised everyone

  • Dan Turczynski

    Biggest play of the game

  • RayRivard

    Another big one

  • RayRivard

    Good discipline by defense

  • RayRivard

What a fitting end for the niners … Boldin killed us

  • RayRivard

Nice pushoff by Boldin on that catch, too

  • RayRivard

I have a feeling these two teams will be meeting once again down the road.

  • Dan Turczynski

    Hopefully you are correct.

  • RayRivard

Packers ran out of time in this one

  • RayRivard

Great job today, Dan. I know it seemed like you and I were the only ones on here, but I know there were people stopping in … We’ll keep doing this and get more of the staff involved, too. Thanks

  • Mike Charron

Too bad for management trying to surround Rodgers and Mathews with Draft Day projects. Where did the Niners get Boldin from – they had a need and went out and got a player. The Packers haven’t done that since Woodson. How many years does Aaron have left, maybe we should trade him for more draft picks.

    • RayRivard

Good point, Mike. But IMO, the Packers played badly today and still had the chance to win. They lost it in the trenches and time of possession – along with field possession and … oh yeah, that old guy named Boldin.

They will be better next week.

      • Mike Charron

Ray, they didn’t play badly, they played this game like they have every game for the past few years. No pass rush, no running game, no secondary. Nothing has been fixed or changed, period. Rodgers, Mathews and a great receiving corps either wins for us or keeps us close. Unfortunately this isn’t enough due to continued talent acquisition of the top teams in the NFC and the Packers lack thereof.

  • Gary Olsen

clay had a good game, but I think he needs to live up more to these bigger games with that kind of contract. the secondary was awful and should be better wit burnett back, but McMillan or how ever you say his name was horrible and the corners still don’t want to hit. seriously what is the league turning into. I know that boldin and Peterson are big, but guys like that you need to lay a licking to or there just going to get so comfortable and shred you to pieces.
