Cleveland Browns' Joe Thomas to Green Bay Packers?

Sounds crazy, right?!?

Green Bay Packers fans are well aware of GM Ted Thompson‘s aversion to anything other than “draft and develop,” but the word out of Cleveland Browns territory is that every player on the roster may be up for grabs.

According to Mike Silver of the NFL Network in an interview regarding the Browns’ recent trade of running back Trent Richardson, Browns’ offensive tackle Joe Thomas reportedly said:

Hey, we are all on the trading block.”

If that is the case and the Browns are having a fire sale, a left tackle of the caliber of former Wisconsin Badger Joe Thomas would be a great addition to the Packers.

He is in his seventh year in the NFL and only 28. He is one of the premier left tackles in the league and has a number of good years left in him. Even if the Packers give up next year’s first round draft choice for him, such a choice would likely be in the high twenties and not of more value than a player like Thomas.

He would provide stability on quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘s blind side and allow current left tackle Bryan Bulaga to move back to the right side and instantly strengthen the Packers OL.

While we do not know what is going on in Thompson’s mind, a trade consideration for a player such as Thomas would make for interesting discussion inside the Packers’ front office.
