Now that the worst Sunday of the NFL season as come and gone – the Green Bay Packers bye week – we can start to get back to a normal regular season schedule. While the official medical report will not be out until later in the week, the very first thing we will all be looking for today is who is participating in practice.
Hamstring injuries lead the list – did the bye week finally get us over the hump? If Morgan Burnett and Casey Hayward are not back at practice in full mode this week, then there is bigger issues than the Packers have been telling us. Both were supposedly questionable since week 2 and now here we are at week 5.
Will we find out more about Clay Matthews‘ hamstring injury he suffered in the last game against the Cincinnati Bengals. As cautious as the Packers have been this year, I don’t see much hope in Clay playing this upcoming game. In addition, will special teams star player Jarrett Bush be back from his own hamstring injury? The last hamstring injury belongs to John Kuhn – will he be available this week?
On the concussion front, is Eddie Lacy ready to go? One would think he will be 100 percent this week since his happened in the week two game. The bigger question will be if Jermichael Finley with just the one week off for during the bye was enough for him to recover from his head injury.
We have already talked about two running backs – Lacy’s concussion and Kuhn’s hamstrin – now we have to see how serious that knee injury is that was suffered by James Starks. Also did Johnathan Franklin heal from his sprained ankle? The Packers carry four running backs and as you can see all four have medical questions to be answered this week.
Outside of the Starks knee issue, things are at least hopeful and we are anticipating that the other three are ready to go.
The game is not until Sunday, but we only have to wait till later today for important news!
Stay tuned …
