James Starks stepped in after Lacy suffered a concussion against Washington and PERFORMED. The fourth-year back out of Buffalo ran for 132 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 win. When he was prematurely sidelined the following week in Cincinnati with a knee injury, the Packers called upon their second rookie running back, Jonathan Franklin.
He amazed with another 100-plus-yard performance and a touchdown. Unfortunately, he also suffered the same fate as Starks – succumbing to injury late in the game. With Starks likely to be unavailable Sunday and Franklin not at 100 percent, the rushing duties will fall to heavily on Eddie Lacy.
A vaunted and fearsome pass rush from Detroit led by Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley will want to test a shaky Packers’ offensive line to pressure Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay will need Lacy to take advantage of a susceptible rush defense that gave up a whopping 6.8 yards per carry to Matt Forte last week and to keep Rodgers as clean as possible.
