Green Bay Packers fans should be delighted to see that after a little over a week of hamstring difficulties, Clay Matthews was back in action at practice Thursday.
He was questionable to return in time for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, but he was not ruled out.
In an interview after practice, Matthews said, “I plan to play. I’ll be out there this Sunday.” Coach Mike McCarthy was a little bit more reserved about Matthews’ status, but also stated he was “optimistic” that he would play.
Clay Matthews was an animal during the first half of the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was truly starting to look like the Clay Matthews from the 2010 season, as he was involved in two forced fumbles, including a solo effort with a diving tackle on Benjarvus Green-Ellis behind the line of scrimmage.
Casey Hayward also started his next step toward a full recovery by taking individual reps, but he did not participate in team activities.
