Frazier confirmed that Freeman’s status was in doubt earlier today.
With that said, the quarterback carousel could potentially continue in Minneapolis. Christian Ponder is being prepped to be the starter until the Vikings know for sure about Freeman’s status. Ponder previously was unseated by Matt Cassel in week 4 where Minnesota got its lone win against Pittsburgh in London. Since then, however, Cassel has been replaced for Josh Freeman who made his Viking debut Monday night completing 20 out of 53 passes for 190 yards and an interception. He posted a quarterback rating of 40.6.
Now with their third quarterback in as many weeks potentially unavailable for Sunday’s night NFC North matchup against division leading Green Bay, the Vikings are turning back to their original starting quarterback in Christian Ponder. Yeah well some of you get my drift here don’t you? Was Josh Freeman even a member of the Vikings for two weeks before they threw him to the wolves with no real knowledge of the playbook? I mean unfortunately we all had to sit through his painful dud of a debut the other night. But what are the Vikings doing right now? Which direction are they taking?
I just have to think if you’re Mike McCarthy you can smell the blood in the water. You can hear the chaos rambling out of Minnesota. If you are Green Bay, you really go out and slam the door on any doubters that are left about the toughness and quality of each and every Packer. You travel into Minnesota on the big, bright stage of Sunday Night Football, and you HAMMER the “former Packer,” “Christian Ponder is a really good quarterback” quoted by Greg Jennings-led Minnesota Vikings to improve to 5-2.
I can already see the grin on Aaron Rodgers face now.
