Minnesota Vikings: News from the west side of the Mississippi

The Minnesota Vikings play host to the Green Bay Packers Sunday Night for the team’s second straight prime time appearance – this is the first appearance on prime time national television for the Packers … what’s up with that?

Anyway, I digress. My goal here is to provide some recent news that has come out of Minnesota over the past couple of days. In addition to the voice clips from Adrian Peterson saying that he is back from a hamstring injury that has slowed him in the recent past, the news that the Vikings main man has plunked down a bunch of pocket change to buy his offensive linemen a brand new snowmobile was surely a nice bit of news.

Now all those offensive linemen have to do is open some holes for last year’s MVP so he can get some yardage. And while many are saying the Peterson is primed for his 2013 breakout game, he will have his own tough sledding against the Packers’ rush defense that has been pretty stout so far this season.

Anyway, if you’re interested, here’s the video of Peterson being a good guy:

In other more recent not-so-far-reaching news, the Vikings today released defensive end Justin Trattou and signed tight end Chase Ford to the active roster.

Who? You might ask …

OK, those were my exact words.

Trattou was with the Vikings for about a month after being signed from the New York Giants. Ford was signed to take the place of tight end Rhett Ellison, who is out with an ankle injury.

That’s about it from the land of 10,000 lakes …
