Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is the Packers' first round draft pick.

With the 21st pick, the Green Bay Packers select Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

It’s no joke – the Green Bay Packers have selected Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix with the 21st pick of the NFL 2014 Draft.

The selection comes at the end of months of speculation on which direction the team would go with their first selection in this draft. With defense being the target, the Packers will now head into 2014 with what many feel is the top safety.

With needs at linebacker, wide receiver and offensive line, among others, Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy and all those in the Packers war room took the step toward balancing needs with the best player still on the board.

The Packers will have eight more selections. Barring any trades (which are likely, knowing Ted Thompson) the Packers will have one pick in the second round (#53 overall), two in the third round (#85 and #98 overall), one in the fourth round (#121), two in the fifth (#161 and #176), and one each in the sixth (#197) and seventh (#236).

See the complete list of all picks at the start of the first round. Again, barring any trades, this is the schedule the Packers will face over the next couple of days.

Stay tuned as we take a deeper look at this first round selection …
