FanSided NFL Mock Draft: Kyle Fuller to the Packers

The Green Bay Packers will select Virginia Tech cornerback Kyle Fuller with the #21 pick in he 2014 NFL Draft - that according to my selection in the FanSided NFL Mock completed today.

You can see the full mock by clicking here.

With Ryan Shazier, Calvin Pryor and C.J. Mosley already off this board and the need for the Packers to go defense in the first round, we could have gone with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, but I’m not a huge fan of his. We could have also gone with a guy like Jimmie Ward, but if things fall the Packers’ way, they could pick him up in the second round.

There are two reasons to select Fuller here. Number one, he has the skills that every Packers fans like to see in their defensive secondary players – the ability to tackle in the open field and the physicality to match up with the huge receivers roaming the fields across the NFC North.

But let’s get to the third reason … yes, there is a third reason – Fuller’s skillset is such that he’s the type of conerback who could be transformed into a safety.

And there you have it – the perfect pick. Not only do the Packers get a great college player who should transition well to the NFL, but they get a player who could also kill the second bird by helping to fill the team’s biggest hole.

So, what do you think, Packers fans? Take a look at those selected 1-20 in this mock ahead of my pick and those selected 22-32 and you tell me who the better selection here would be. Would love to hear from you.

In the meantime, enjoy your Draft Day and tonight as we all get ready for the next phase of the NFL season.
