With Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix and Davante Adams already selected, the Green Bay Packers selected Khyri Thornton, a defensive tackle out of Southern Miss with the first of two third-round picks tonight. It was the 85th pick in the 2014 draft.
With the Packers first of two compensatory picks coming up at the end of the third round, the Packers have now gone defense once again with their third of seven picks now in the books.
With major needs on both sides of the ball, the Packers chose Thornton, which will only add more depth for the defensive line.
Clinton-Dix was selected because the Packers were pathetic at safety last year and Adams was brought in to help add depth to the Packers’ depleted wide receiver corps.
Prior to the pick, there was much discussion across the interweb about the possibilities. As usual, the names were across the board. However, I don’t believe I saw Thornton’s name anywhere.
Though we may know little about Thornton at this point, we will in the near future.
Stay tuned …
