Packers sign final draft picks Adams, Rodgers

The 2014 NFL Draft is officially in the books for the Green Bay Packers as the teams’ two remaining unsigned draft picks signed today on the bottom line.

The Packers announced late this afternoon that second round selection WR Davante Adams and tight end Richard Rodgers (the Packers’ second pick of the third round) signed their contracts.

Their agreements mean that all nine draft picks of the Packers are now ready to hit the field.

Adams and Rodgers have both turned some heads in early season workouts this spring and are being looked to as players who could contribute right away.

Rodgers, who was criticized for his fluctuations in weight, has shown coaches that he’s the athletic tight end they perceived when they drafted him. He also showed during this past week’s organized team activities that he can catch the ball down the field and can catch it in traffic.

Adams will compete for that third starting spot at wide receiver and will most likely be up against Jarrett Boykin in what’s turning out to be one of the team’s more interesting positional battles. Adams is expected to make the team, but just how much time he gets will be determined by his work in training camp.

Another issue to consider now that all draft choices have agreed to terms is whether the Packers get serious about re-signing one or both of their most-needed players – Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. The Packers need to decide how to proceed with those two players and all of Packers Nation is watching how this develops.

Below is the official press release issued this afternoon by the Packers PR department:
