Competition heats up in Packers’ offseason workouts

There hasn’t been MUCH news out of the Green Bay Packers camp, regarding OTAs … and we are rolling right into the season of minicamps and training camp, followed closely by preseason. The time is now for players to start stepping up and proving themselves worthy of making the final roster.

However, what news we have heard has been promising.

Rookies Richard Rodgers, Jared Abbrederis and Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix have received praise from head coach Mike McCarthy and position coaches, alike. Guys like J.C. Tretter and Sean Richardson have been stood out, and are garnishing favor among coaches and teammates.

Position battles are forming and that is a very good thing. Competition keeps things interesting, keeps players on their toes and keeps everyone moving forward. Word on the street is there are some very intense position battles heating up, moving through minicamps and into training camp.

until the franklin news i was thinking the top 4 rbs was locked up but now that battle will be a good one now with rajion neav and michael hill fighting for that #4 spot there. yep july is gonna start the fight for spots and they all have the same chance to show what they have in the 4 preseason games. i can not wait to see a janis/ rettig combo in the late quarter of the preseason games i think rettig has some talent and a few years in qb school he could challenge tolzien. this is just a small taste of it but the wr battle, rb battle, qb battle for back up, not to mention the fight for olb because im one of the few that does not think perry can stay healthy and adrian hubbard has a huge upside that could put bradford in the middle with hawk

I think Neal is the one that might just make the 53 man roster with the news of Franklin. At Safety I just hope the Packers do the right thing and put the best FS and SS on the field. Don’t factor Burnett’s contract into it. I still scratch my head why TT gave him that kind of money. Hyde and Clinton-Dix will be the best by next year IMO. Adams will catch up, he missed the first mini camp due to the Rookie Card show he needed to attend. I think the Packers carry 6 WR this season. I’m not so sure Boykin is a lock, not with Harper. They may try and stash Janis on PS but he’ll be picked up in seconds. It will be interesting that for sure.

Neal was already a lock they didn’t give him that contract for him not to make the team

Rajon Neal, the undrafted rookie RB from TN, not Mike Neal. c’mon!
