Green Bay Packers fans, smell that?
Jordy Nelson does.
That’s the smell of Packers football.
It seems like just yesterday the frozen football thrown by Colin Kaepernick late in the fourth quarter of the Wild Card round slipped right through Micah Hyde’s fingertips. It seems like just yesterday I was laying on the living room floor not able to move for hours after the Green Bay Packers played their final game last season. Well, the fact that training camp has sneaked up and hit me right in the face, is the greatest thing that has happened this summer.
Contrary to past off-seasons, this one has gone by pretty smoothly. I only watched Super Bowl XLV highlights around 20 times compared to the usual 40. I was able to successfully follow Aaron Rodgers‘ girlfriend acquisitions and keep up-to-date on what he has been doing. I didn’t have to interact with any Chicago Bears fans that I didn’t want to. I didn’t have to hear much of what Minnesota Vikings fans say every single off-season. Which is the old “this is the year.” I didn’t resort to one NASCAR race to try to fill the void. I also ate a lot of cheese and drank a lot of Spotted Cow, which provided me fond thoughts of Wisconsin and Packers football. So, it hasn’t been that bad.
On the contrary, my wife and I recently purchased a new house, which is great. It’s one in which needed some ‘Raji’ sized renovations. As a result, we have been living at my in-laws for the last two-ish months. So, like Mike Daniels, I’m about ready to hit someone. Like you, I’m ready for some Green Bay football.
I can’t wait to see what is in store this season. Seeing the defense develop will hopefully be one of the best things to watch for this season.
I also look forward to interacting with you, the fans, this season. Give me a Packers shout on the twitter at @tom_mroz. I usually give honest, straightforward thoughts about the Packers.
It’s time to get up off the living room floor and get ready because it’s finally back.
GO PACK GO!
