With 30 days left until the start of the NFL season, our countdown to the big day continues.

Thursday, Sept. 4, is the day when the Green Bay Packers travel to Seattle to take on the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks.

Over the  course of the next 30 days we focus on the number that represents the days remaining … and for today we take a look number 30.

Yesterday we took a look at #31, with a focus on Jim Taylor, one of the greatest running backs in franchise and NFL history.

Today we move on to #30 – a number that’s been associated for decades with none other than Clarke Hinkle, but most recently by Ahman Green, the Packers all-time leading rusher.

There haven’t been a whole lot of players to have worn the number the past 60-plus years, but in addition to Green and Hinkle, we could consider  Corey HarrisPaul Ott CarruthChuck Mercein, and most certainly William Henderson.

Currently, the number is being worn by John Kuhn.

But today for number 30 we look at two of the best Packers players to hit the field – Clarke Hinkle and Ahman Green.

Once again we allow John Maxymuk, the author of “Packers by the Numbers: Jersey Numbers and the Players Who Wore them,” to take us back about through the years to examine Hinkle’s impact on the franchise, while we take our own look at Ahman Green.
