Green Bay Packers update: Brad Jones, Corey Linsley, Letroy Guion and more

Will there ever be a season when we don’t see Green Bay Packers inside linebacker Brad Jones on an injury report?

It seems like if someone passes gas on the guy he goes down …

That said, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said today after practice that Jones will be out for Thursday night’s final preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Lambeau Field with a quadriceps injury.

In addition, McCarthy doesn’t seem too concerned with the temporary loss of center J.C. Tretter and his replacement, rookie Corey Linsley. In fact, it seems that McCarthy is fully confident that Linsley’s play will be solid when the first team takes the field against the World Champion Seattle Seahawks in the NFL Season Opener Thursday, Sept. 4.

But there was one surprise that caught my eye on the Web today by Rob Demovsky:


  There was also good news today as defensive lineman Letroy Guion was cleared for practice today, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. As B.J. Raji‘s apparent backup, Guion hadn’t played a single snap in any of the first three preseason games – heck, he hadn’t put on pads yet this training camp. Even his teammates were surprised:

And on one other note, Aaron Rodgers told reporters that he wouldn’t need any reps in a game situation with now-starting center Corey Linsley, meaning there’s no need for Aaron Rodgers to take any snaps on the field during the Packers final preseason game Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs:
