Stephen Wagner was the lucky young man who caught a cleat thrown into the crowd by Donald Driver at a charity softball game. Unfortunately right after catching it, a woman next to him grabbed it and ripped it out of his hands, saying “That’s mine.”

Driver, upon hearing what happened, took to twitter to find Wagner. When they met, Driver gave Wagner a handful of autographed Green Bay Packers gear, like cleats, a jersey and a baseball bat.

In addition to this kind-hearted gesture, Driver announced to twitterdom that they should leave the woman who took the shoe from Wagner alone. “We all make mistakes” he said.

Part of the mission of the FanSided Network, is to encourage our community of readers to share their opinions and thoughts on their favorite teams. Our writers don’t hold back and we don’t expect our readers to either. We want to give you the best coverage and opinions on your favorite team from the fan perspective that is so often missing from traditional sports media. We believe sports coverage doesn’t have to be dry, boring and without opinion.

In an effort to step up our game, we are expanding our staff here at Lombardi Ave to give you more content and a broader perspective! We are currently accepting applications for a new editor. We are also looking for multiple staff writers.

The position of Editor is a paid position. The Editor will supervise all aspects of Lombardi Ave. Responsibilities include providing daily site updates, hiring and managing of staff and management of the site’s Twitter and Facebook accounts. Editors who meet FanSided’s requirements will be eligible for payment via our competitive revenue sharing program.

Staffwriters are expected to submit at least one article per week. These positions are not paid although many of our contributing writers move into paid staff positions as vacancies and opportunities arise. Being a contributing writer for a FanSided blog also offers excellent exposure and a chance to sharpen not only your writing skills but your view of your favorite team. There is tremendous opportunity for growth within FanSided to those who seek it.

If you are interested in either position, please submit a writing sample concerning the Green Bay Packers. The sample should be roughly between 300-500 words.
