We all know the National Football League’s 2012 season kick-off is right around the corner.

We can smell it, we can taste it.

The Packers convincing win over 2011 AFC Playoff participant Cincinnati Bengals really got Packers fans buzzing.

Two horrible losses to start the preseason was brought to an end when Aaron Rodgers led the Packers up and down the field with his arm and legs.

We also saw an aggressive defensive attack give us hope of great things to come on that side of the ball in 2012.

We’re excited because the Packers have a bevy of good, young defensive players; we’re excited because running back Cedric Benson’s debut was rather stunning; we’re excited because Aaron Rodgers continues to show why he’s the best player in the league; and we’re excited because the Packers’ season-opener against the San Francisco 49ers is nipping at our heels.

We’re ready.

The Packers and Bucs line up in the Snow Bowl
Tooling around YouTube tonight, I came across a Green Bay Packers’ game that I remember well, but had not thought about for many years – the famed Snow Bowl that featured the likes of Lyn Dickey, Steve Young and about 36,000 no shows.
It’s got to be the only game that’s not featured a filled Lambeau Field in recent memory.
That’s because a foot of snow fell prior to the game and another five covered the field during the three hours the game was played.
This edited version of the original broadcast on Channel 7 out of Wausau even includes a crawler that announces another 8-14 inches of snow was being projected to fall during that night, so the fans traveling west from Green Bay probably had a tough go of it – if indeed there were any travelers.
I remember turning this noon game on and being flabbergasted it was even being played in those conditions. It sure was fun to watch and reliving it here was just as much fun – especially watching a very youthful Steve Young struggle as the Bucs quarterback.
Anyway, I hope you find watching this post as much fun as I had finding it and bringing it to you.

Get ready for the start of training camp by watching some cool Packers videos
The start to the 2012 Packers season is just nine days away.
Yup, the Packers hit the field in just more than a week and it couldn’t come at a better time as the Brewers start their post All-Star Game slide – or at least it appears that way as I write this.
So, to get ready I thought all you Packers fans would love watching some Packers highlights from past years.

The agony of watching and waiting through preseason for the start of the regular season is an annual journey, one that is time consuming, but well worth the wait.
Sorting through the emotional drama of the wait, Packers fans have one more thing to digest prior to the start of this upcoming Super Bowl-defending season – the debut of America’s Game: 2010 Green Bay Packers, the most recent installment of the Emmy Award-winning NFL Films-produced series that features the Super Bowl winning team each year.
The hour-long program will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 7, just prior to the Packers league- and season-opening game against the New Orleans Saints, Thursday, Sept. 8. (more…)
