Enjoy your turkey. Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

Last year I really didn’t enjoy my Thanksgiving. Well, that was until the Packers took it to the Detroit Lions to keep their unbeaten streak going.

This year, I feel much more relaxed not having to worry about a Packers game. I can sit back, relax, fill up on turkey and pumpkin pie and enjoy the three scheduled NFL games without the angst that comes with each Packers game.

Heck, I might even take a nap or two today … you should, too … because today’s games may have at least one turkey among three scheduled.

But I thought I would at least spend a bit of this morning “working” and providing you with my picks for the day.

So, here goes …

Houston Texans at Detroit Lions

Anyone who has seen the schizophrenic Texans, especially last week when they nearly lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars, you might have to ask which team will show up today in Detroit. Will it be the team many feel are the best in the AFC or will it be the team that allowed the Jags’ Chad Henne to throw at-will. If it’s the team that’s been giving up tons of yards through the air, that may bode well for the Lions who hang onto Playoffs hope by a thread.

Given that the Lions tend to play well on this day, I think they will give the Texans all they can handle, but in the end the Texans will find a way to win.

Texans 27 Lions 24

Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys

Considering that the Cowboys have been grossly inconsistent this season and that the Redskins, under the guidance of RGIII, have also been up and down, this is a tough one to call. It’s being played in Dallas, the Cowboys have a better defense and a better record, but the intangible is that guy under center for the Skins. RGIII has been spectacular at times, but also not so good – and his team’s record (4-6) show that. However, Tony Romo has also had his ups and downs.

Expect this game to go back and forth with the team with the ball last having a chance to win it. This one might even go into OT.

Redskins 26 Cowboys 23

New England Patriots at New York Jets

Mark Sanchez vs. Tom Brady? Ahahahahahaha. No contest. Tom knows how to close out teams and with his unit poised to take full control of the AFC East today with a win at the Jets, he won’t blink. Though the Patriots’ defense has been suspect this year, it won’t matter tonight against Sanchez. Though the New York QB is coming off his best game of the year, that was just a blip on his sorry screen of NFL success.

Brady and Belichick go home with an easy win in this one over Sanchez and Fatty Ryan.

Patriots 36 Jets 16

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

People can pick their game of the week, follow their favorite teams, or just watch for fun. However, all eyes will be on Detroit on Thursday, November 24th. What could be the biggest game of the season is on Thanksgiving Day!

Imagine watching two 10-0 teams play each other, and these two teams are in the same division. Who would not enjoy watching this intense game?

What are the odds that both teams go 10-0? Statistically, not very good, even if both already have four wins down. However, before shrugging it off, look at the schedules. The combined record of teams the Packers must face between now and then is a mere 8-16 (.333).

Both the Rams and the Vikings are winless, and Green Bay plays Minnesota twice in that span. The Falcons (2-2), Chargers (3-1), and the Buccaneers (3-1) are the other opponents. Green Bay can certainly pull it off. It may not be likely, but it is certainly attainable.
