Charles Woodson and the Green Bay Packers’ defense stepped their effort up a notch tonight and gave Aaron Rodgers a few more possessions as the Packers pummeled an inferior opponent in the Minnesota Vikings, 45-7, at Lambeau Field.

With rookie wide receiver and kick returner Randall Cobb jumpstaring the packers with an 80-yard punt return, the Packers led 7-0 even without Aaron Rodgers and the red hot Packers offense touching the ball.

It didn’t take the Packers long to score again as Rodgers hit Greg Jennings on a 24-yard crossing pattern to give them 14-0 lead – one that they wouldn’t relinquish beyond that point.

By the time the carnage was complete Rodgers had thrown four touchdown passes, two of them to Jordy Nelson, and Woodson and his defensive compatriots had turned in a monster performance. The end result was complete domination.
The Vikings’ Adrian Peterson finished with just 61 rushing yard – He was outrushed by the Packers’ James Starks (63 yards).

With an aggressive defense that saw an all-out effort, the Packers got after Vikings’ rookie quarterback Christian Ponder, forcing hurries. The defense also intercepted Ponder once and could have had at two other picks.

Add to that two Clay Matthews sacks and you’ve got a formula for success.

Even backup quarterback Matt Flynn got into the act by scoring on a scramble/run late in the game for the Packers.

In the end, it ended with the Packers dominating and raising their record to 9-0.

The Packers try to run their record to 10-0 when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday.
